The Provincial Federation of Associations of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities of Seville has carried out this Tuesday 29th October, in the province of Seville, two important discussion groups in the framework of the implementation of the European project Safer Path.
The first discussion group was held in the plenary hall of the town hall of the municipality of El Saucejo, provided by the town hall, where home help professionals participated. The other focus group was held in the company CLECE, where professionals in charge of the coordination of home help professionals were present.
The aforementioned Focus Groups are part of the research phase in which the Provincial Federation of Associations of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities of Seville participates in the framework of the European programme Safer Path, whose co-financing is made possible by Erasmus+ of the European Union.
The aim of this phase is to extract first-hand quality information about the situation experienced by professionals who care for people with disabilities at home in Seville and its province.
The main purpose tends to focus efforts, actions and proposals in those areas that they indicate in order to improve the service, as well as to take care of the emotional health and general wellbeing of the staff by attending, identifying and acting on the main aspects that generate stress and anxiety in their work performance.
The Provincial Federation of Associations of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities of Seville has carried out this Tuesday 29th October, in the province of Seville, two important discussion groups in the framework of the implementation of the European project Safer Path.
Among the inputs and collection of information obtained, there are several relevant lines, such as establishing criteria for differentiation between end users not only according to the degree of dependence, but also by the type of disability and needs required. In this way, home care professionals could focus on providing certain services to users with certain characteristics that fit better with the professional curriculum of the home care assistant. In addition, the professionals and staff consulted say that it is important to increase the number of hours dedicated to dependency in order to be able to perform functions that really fulfil a comprehensive service.
Finally, within these discussion groups, it was indicated that it is essential to work directly with families in terms of information and awareness-raising on several aspects, such as their rights and obligations when accessing this type of services, to train themselves in skills and professional matters in order to make up for the inherent shortcomings of the system in terms of the attention and care of their family member, and to receive adequate training in the rights of people with disabilities.
It is important to highlight that the Safer Path programme involves, in addition to COCEMFE Seville, the Consorzio Cooperative Sociali from Italy and Action Synergy SA from Greece.
The Provincial Federation continues to generate spaces for discussion and strengthening in the care of dependency and the professionals involved in their field work with people with disabilities in Seville and its province, all within the framework of projects of international importance such as this Safer Path project.
