The Provincial Federation of Associations of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities of Seville (COCEMFE Seville), together with the local government of the Sevillian municipality of La Puebla de Cazalla, is working to improve the lives of people with disabilities in this rural area.

To this end, the president of the Federation, Juan José Lara, and the technician Noelia Quevedo, met this morning with the 4th Deputy Mayor and Delegate for Development, Public Services, Ecological Transition and Communication of the Town Council of La Puebla de Cazalla, Miguel Ángel Martín; and the Councillor for Social Welfare, Health and Consumer Affairs, Ana Belén Lavado.

The aim of the meeting was to establish actions to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities in the municipality. The Federation and its services have been presented, which have been offered for La Puebla de Cazalla, highlighting the employment itineraries, the improvement of accessibility, the Office of Independent Living, and the awareness-raising talks. And, above all, emphasis has been placed on developing the EU-RUDISNET programme, an initiative that COCEMFE Seville runs together with five other countries (Italy, Turkey, Slovenia, Lithuania and Germany) and which aims to create a European network that increases self-confidence, empowerment, as well as the practice of inclusion in rural areas, training in mentoring and leadership of people with disabilities in rural areas of Europe.

The NGO has also expressed its interest in reactivating its member organisation, the Association for the Physically and Sensory Disabled of La Puebla de Cazalla INTÉGRA-T.

The programme ‘Network for the Social Inclusion of People with Disabilities in Rural Areas of the European Union (EU-RUDISNET)’ is co-funded by Erasmus+ of the European Union.
