COCEMFE Seville held the 3rd training session of the project ‘Be a Volunteer’.

Yesterday, Wednesday 2nd April, the Provincial Federation of Associations of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities of Seville, held the third training session of the European project ‘Be a Volunteer’ in the facilities of our provincial entity, with the participation of a total of 11 young people. On this occasion, the session was preceded by our technician of the European department, Álvaro Walls Toledo, after his coordination meeting with the European partners in the capital of Hungary.

In order to promote more meaningful learning for each of our young people, the session focused on self-knowledge. In this way, the skills and characteristics of each participant were explored individually, as well as the type of actions they would like to carry out at the beginning of their time as volunteers. We found that the vast majority of our young people show a special sensitivity towards issues related to the care of vulnerable people such as, for example, hospitalised children or elderly people in residential homes. At the same time, it is inspiring to see how they are inclined to take an active role in social service, wanting to get involved in the design of actions and making very creative proposals.

This will be an unprecedented experience for our organisation: more than 50 young people with different types of disabilities, from five European countries, will share a week of coexistence and training in various skills to achieve full autonomy during their volunteering.

We remind you that the training sessions are open to all young people under 30 years old, with and without disabilities, who wish to improve their soft skills (such as social skills, emotional management, organisation, decision making, among others), while they meet other people of their age in a relaxed, inclusive and supportive environment.

From COCEMFE Seville, we continue working to promote volunteering and training for people with disabilities.
