The Provincial Federation of Associations of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities of Seville (COCEMFE Seville) and the Andalusian Youth Institute (IAJ) have held a meeting this Thursday with the aim of developing joint actions to strengthen the inclusion of young people with disabilities.

Specifically, the president of the Federation, Juan José Lara, and the European project technicians Encarnación Barrera and Álvaro Walls, visited the IAJ General Directorate headquarters in Seville, where they were able to inform the IAJ general director, Carlos Corrales, about the work carried out by the entity.

During the meeting, the strategic lines of work with young people developed by COCEMFE Seville were discussed, including the European E-Youth programme, as well as the possible collaboration between both entities.

e-YOUTH

e-YOUTH aims to promote the social inclusion of young people with disabilities in situations of risk due to their mental and emotional health, with complex support needs and with fewer opportunities for any reason, seeking respect for their rights.

In this sense, COCEMFE Seville and IAJ will work together to design and create a cross-cutting intervention methodology involving professionals who work with these young people from different fields of action.

Thus, in the diagnostic phase of this project, and through various research tools such as questionnaires and focus groups, the competences and training needs of current professionals in the disability and youth sector will be identified. Resources will also be provided to promote personal development, autonomy and resilience of young people with complex needs and fewer opportunities to promote pathways to mainstreaming.

The e-Youth project is co-funded by Erasmus + of the European Union and coordinated by Support Girona. COCEMFE Seville participates as a partner along with the entities EQuiP (Denmark), UDAF82 (France), OZARA doo (Slovenia) and Mental Health Europe (Belgium).
