COCEMFE Sevilla visits the municipality of Badolatosa to improve the lives of people with disabilitiesIn this rural environment through the EU-RUDISNET initiative

The Provincial Federation of Associations of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities of Seville (COCEMFE Seville), together with the local government of the Sevillian municipality of Badolatosa, is working to improve the lives of people with disabilities in this rural area.

To this end, the president of the Federation, Juan José Lara, and the technician Noelia Quevedo, met last Friday in the Plenary Hall of the Town Hall of Badolatosa, with the mayor, Antonio M. González Graciano; the councillor for Equality and Social Services, María Fuensanta Rivero Gata; the social educator, Yolanda Tenor Nieto; and the social integrator, María José León Regadera.

The aim of the meeting was to establish actions to develop in the municipality the EU-RUDISNET programme, an initiative that COCEMFE Seville runs together with five other countries (Italy, Turkey, Slovenia, Lithuania and Germany) and that aims to create a European network to increase self-confidence, empowerment; as well as to practice inclusion in rural areas, training in mentoring and leadership of people with disabilities in rural areas of Europe.

The NGO was also able to meet the Badolatosa Disability Association (ABADIS), and establish contact with the president Mª. Carmen Romero Linares, as well as with people with disabilities, parents and mothers and fathers of the municipality.

A tour was also carried out visiting the facilities of the Social Services of the town council, Library, Civic Centre, Casa la Cultura, Justice of the Peace, Consulting Room, Guadalinfo, Pensioners’ Home, Church, Counselling Service, and La Fontana Training Centre, in order to analyse the social reality of the municipality.

The programme ‘Network for the Social Inclusion of people with disabilities in rural areas of the European Union (EU-RUDISNET)’ is co-funded by Erasmus+ of the European Union.
