COCEMFE Sevilla Strengthens Its Volunteering Programme with New Social and Environmental Actions

  • Young volunteers David Iglesias and Carmen Navarro took part in the closing event of the European project Safer Path and in a conservation activity at Vega de Triana Park, as part of the Be a Volunteer programme.

The Provincial Federation of Associations of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities of Seville (COCEMFE Sevilla) continues to strengthen its volunteering programme thanks to the commitment of young people engaged in social transformation. On this occasion, volunteers David Iglesias and Carmen Navarro carried out an intense agenda of activities on 26 and 27 September, within the framework of the European project Be a Volunteer, which promotes active youth participation in solidarity initiatives.

On 26 September, both volunteers supported the closing event of the European project Safer Path, held at the Entreparques Civic Centre, which gathered more than 30 participants. Throughout the event, they collaborated with the organisation’s European Projects Department, assisting with participant reception and registration, as well as logistical tasks related to space management and catering services.

Their contribution was praised as an example of responsibility and commitment, highlighting the ability of young volunteers to take on meaningful roles in collaborative work environments. Through this type of initiative, progress is made towards building a more inclusive society and breaking down the barriers and stereotypes that still exist around disability.

Environmental Action at Vega de Triana Park

The following day, 27 September, David and Carmen took part in an environmental volunteering activity organised by the ECOHERENCIA association, held at Vega de Triana Park. This initiative focused on the conservation of natural spaces and on raising awareness about the importance of protecting urban ecosystems—essential for preserving biodiversity and improving citizens’ quality of life.

Vega de Triana Park, considered one of Seville’s green lungs, plays a key role in regulating the area’s temperature, improving air quality, and creating habitats for numerous species of flora and fauna. The volunteers’ participation in its conservation was a particularly meaningful experience, reinforcing the idea that civic engagement is essential to ensure the sustainability of these environments.

Through these activities, COCEMFE Sevilla not only promotes youth involvement in volunteering actions but also fosters values of solidarity, responsibility and respect for the environment—helping to build a more inclusive and sustainable society.
