Safer Path Project Closing Event Held at Entreparques Civic Centre

Last Friday, 26 September, the Entreparques Civic Centre hosted the closing event of the European project Safer Path, organised by COCEMFE Sevilla. The event brought together around 30 people, including social and healthcare professionals, educators, service users and their families, to share the results of two years of intensive and collaborative work.

The main aim of the meeting was to present the project’s outcomes, with a particular focus on its most significant intellectual product: a comprehensive Manual for the Prevention and Management of Burnout Syndrome. This resource, designed in a clear and user-friendly format, is especially aimed at professionals in the social and healthcare sector, particularly those providing home care services. The manual will soon be available for free download on our website:

The manual takes a cross-cutting approach to the phenomenon of burnout. Its first chapters analyse in depth the causes and consequences of this syndrome, followed by a set of tools that enable readers to carry out a self-assessment. In this way, each professional can identify the areas requiring greater attention in order to effectively manage fatigue and stress. Finally, the guide provides knowledge and practical strategies to develop protection mechanisms that not only mitigate the adverse effects of burnout but can also help prevent its onset.

Looking Ahead: Supporting Family Carers

The presentation of the manual was very well received by attendees, who expressed great interest in developing a second edition focusing on the role of the family carer. This proposal reflects an undeniable reality: although more than 50% of social and healthcare professionals show signs of burnout, the issue also affects one in every six family carers.

In response to this need, COCEMFE Sevilla is committed to supporting the continuation of this project, providing more and better tools for the families of our service users, helping them to face their demanding daily tasks through understanding, knowledge and emotional management. In this regard, several proposals were gathered for the creation of informative and even training activities, such as open online courses.

The spirit of cooperation culminated in the willingness of the family members present to actively participate in future workshops. These spaces will serve to share experiences, continue learning, and improve the quality of life of their loved ones. There are plans to begin these monthly workshops in 2026, open to any parent or guardian of persons with disabilities who wish to build a better future together as a community.

An Internationally Projected Initiative: Final Event in Italy

This local event preceded the official closing ceremony of the project, held today, 30 September, in Italy. The significance of our involvement in Safer Path at the European level is reflected in the prominent participation of our organisation in this final act.

Emilio Tortosa de los Reyes, Head of the Volunteering and Inclusive Leisure Department of the Federation, will take part as an expert on behalf of COCEMFE Sevilla, presenting the results and work carried out. Alongside him, Nieves Márquez, President of the Federation, will attend as the official representative of our organisation, highlighting COCEMFE Sevilla’s strong commitment and key role in the development of this successful European project.
