INCLUSIVE CHECK-IN: Hotel Skills Training for Youth with Disabilities

Aims to support the integration of young people with disabilities into the labour market within the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Project number: 2024-2-HU01-KA220-VET-000285017

Implementation period: 01/03/2025 – 29/02/2028

General Overview

The Inclusive Check-In project aims to support the integration of young people with disabilities into the labour market within the tourism and hospitality sectors. In Spain and other participating countries, the involvement of people with disabilities in the open labour market remains limited, particularly in the hospitality and hotel industries.

The project is developing a comprehensive training programme and a hybrid online platform to help participants acquire the necessary skills and to promote the creation of inclusive working environments.

The project seeks to address these gaps by offering an all-encompassing training pathway and a blended learning platform designed to equip participants with the competencies required to perform various roles within the tourism sector, while fostering inclusive workplaces.

Furthermore, Inclusive Check-In recognises that tourism professionals also need a better understanding of the needs, challenges, and potential of people with disabilities in order to achieve effective workplace integration.

Creating an inclusive workplace culture not only supports the professional development of participants but also contributes to social inclusion—ultimately leading to a more inclusive and accessible labour market.

Main objectives:

  • Labour Market Integration: The project aims to increase the employment of people with disabilities in the tourism sector through training programmes and skills development.
  • Development of Training Materials and Methodologies: Creation of resources specifically tailored to the needs of the target group.
  • Creation of an Online Hybrid Platform: Development of an interactive learning tool that fosters self-directed learning and enhances training effectiveness.
  • Promotion of an Inclusive Workplace Culture: Support for businesses in understanding the needs of people with disabilities and encouraging the creation of inclusive working environments.
  • International Knowledge Sharing: Exchange of project experiences among partner organisations to facilitate the implementation of best practices.

Expected outcomes:

  • Training Materials: Development of materials designed to prepare educators and trainers to work with the target group.
  • Trained Youth: At least 100 young people with disabilities will receive training, strengthening their confidence and employability.
  • Online Platform: A functional platform that will offer flexible learning opportunities for both participants and trainers.
  • Dissemination of International Best Practices: Project outcomes and experiences will be widely shared, promoting the growth of inclusive workplaces.
  • Increase in Inclusive Workplaces: The project will contribute to higher employment rates for people with disabilities and support the creation of inclusive work environments.
