Preparatory visit: 15 and 16 April 2026

Youth exchange in Seville: 18–24 May 2026

General objective

The SAY no to Excluding project aims to promote the social inclusion, active participation and personal development of young people with disabilities through adapted sport, intercultural learning and shared experiences involving participants from Türkiye and Spain.

The initiative is based on the understanding that sport is an effective tool for overcoming barriers, strengthening self-esteem and addressing the social prejudices that continue to affect people with disabilities. Through adapted activities and shared experiences, the project seeks to demonstrate that young people with disabilities can participate actively in sporting, cultural and community life on an equal basis.

Specific objectives

O1. To facilitate the participation of young people with disabilities in adapted sports activities, supporting the development of physical, social and personal skills.

O2. To promote the exchange of experiences and good practices between the participating organisations regarding the adaptation of sports activities to the needs of people with different disabilities.

O3. To strengthen the autonomy, self-confidence, motivation and sense of belonging of the young participants.

O4. To raise awareness of the potential of adapted sport as a means of challenging stereotypes and progressing towards a more inclusive society.

O5. To foster intercultural learning and mutual understanding among young people from Türkiye and Spain through sporting, cultural and social activities.

O6. To encourage the active participation of young people with fewer opportunities in a European experience based on the values of equality, respect, diversity and non-discrimination.

Participants

The youth exchange will involve young people with disabilities, accompanying persons, facilitators and group leaders from Türkiye and Spain.

The Turkish delegation will consist of 15 people: 6 young people with disabilities, 6 accompanying persons, 1 facilitator and 2 group leaders. The activity will also involve the Spanish delegation and the COCEMFE Sevilla support team. The planning foresees a total of 35 people involved in the youth exchange, including participants and support staff.

Activities

The youth exchange will take place in Seville from 18 to 24 May 2026, with the delegation arriving on 18 May and departing on 25 May. The programme combines adapted sports activities, learning sessions, group interaction activities, cultural visits and daily reflection and evaluation sessions.

The planned activities include sessions on adapted table tennis, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair basketball, delivered with the collaboration of specialised organisations and sports clubs. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the characteristics of each discipline, identify their benefits and take part in adapted practical activities.

The programme also includes cultural visits to some of Seville’s most emblematic locations, such as Plaza de España, the General Archive of the Indies, the Judería district and the Real Alcázar, as well as an activity related to Real Betis Balompié and a group activity at Parque del Alamillo.

The experience will conclude with a batucada cultural activity, a shared gastronomic event featuring typical Spanish and Turkish food, and a joint evaluation of the project.

Expected results

The project seeks to generate a direct impact on participants by strengthening their confidence, motivation and ability to engage in sporting, social and intercultural contexts.

The main expected results are:

  1. Increased participation of young people with disabilities in sporting and community activities.
  2. Development of skills related to teamwork, intercultural communication, personal autonomy and social interaction.
  3. Improved knowledge of different adapted sports and their benefits for social inclusion.
  4. Exchange of methodologies and good practices between the participating organisations.
  5. Greater awareness of the need to remove barriers and prejudices that hinder the full social participation of people with disabilities.
  6. Consolidation of European cooperation focused on equal opportunities and the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities.

Impact

SAY no to Excluding will contribute to increasing the visibility of the abilities of young people with disabilities and promoting a positive image of their participation in social, cultural and sporting life.

The exchange will enable participants to build relationships with young people from another country, discover different approaches to organising inclusive activities and share personal experiences in a safe, accessible environment based on mutual respect.

For the participating organisations, the project will provide an opportunity to strengthen their international cooperation capacity and broaden their knowledge of inclusive methodologies applied to sport and youth work.
