Empower Youth Without Limits

One in six people in the European Union has a disability, adding to some 80 million people who are often unable to participate fully in society and the economy due to physical barriers and the attitude of the rest of society. Among them, young people with disabilities are a particularly vulnerable sector of the population, mainly due to the limited employment opportunities in the current market (with an unemployment rate of over 60%).

The full participation of people with disabilities in economic and social life is essential for the success of the EU's Europe 2020 strategy in its aim to generate smart, sustainable and inclusive growth.

COCEMFE SEVILLA coordinates the European Erasmus Plus project: Empower youth without limits.

The aim of this project is to increase the competence of young people with limited abilities and special needs related to disabilities, which in turn could increase their chances of getting a job.

In the project, we will involve young people in the process of learning appropriate social skills and skills aimed at social participation.

Through the knowledge gained throughout the project, we want to further guide the participants to organise their own activities, which will be related to the integration of people with disabilities in society.

The implementation of this project will last 15 months.

To do this, a series of actions, such as:

Create at least one group of representatives of young people with disabilities for the purpose of dialogue with decision-makers.
Develop proposals to be forwarded to the authorities.
Develop training aimed at improving the communication skills of these young people with the objective of empowering them to talk to representatives of public administrations and political actors especially linked to decision-making on actions for people with disabilities.
