The European Rural In Life programme will hold a course in Madrid to train professionals who work with people with disabilities in rural areas

The European project Rural In Life plans from 21 to 24 February 2023 a transnational training activity in Madrid addressed to staff professionals (social workers, adult educators, professionals of municipal services that care for people with disabilities) aimed at promoting social inclusion and independent living of people with disabilities living in rural areas. For course’s planning, an online management meeting was celebrated yesterday among the Spanish entities that will be responsible for conducting the training.

This course is organised by FAMMA Madrid at logistical and institutional level, with the support of the Provincial Federation of Associations of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities of Seville (COCEMFE Seville) and Coordinating Federation of People with Physical and/or Organic Disabilities of Bizkaia (FEKOOR).

Participants will receive methods, skills and competences to guide people with disabilities so that they can develop their lives in the same conditions as other citizens in their local areas who do not have disabilities. Good practices currently used in the field of independent living, personal assistance, accessibility, health, disability and rural development will also be discussed.

The course consists of 24 hours and will take place in a face-to-face format. The programme is  five modules which will cover the legal framework on the rights of people with disabilities, independent living in the rural environment, the figure of the personal assistant, resources, etc.

Rural In Life is co-financed by Erasmus+ of the European Union, and also involves the entities EQUIP (Denmark), OZARA (Slovenia), Istituto dei Sordi de Torino (Italy), and Gelisim University of Istanbul (Turkey).
