COCEMFE Seville meets with different political parties with the aim of promoting personal assistance

The Provincial Federation of Associations of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities of Seville (COCEMFE Seville) has held several meetings during the month of November with different political parties, to promote the implementation of personal assistance in Seville.

Specifically, he met via videoconference with ‘Ciudadanos’ on the 6th; and with ‘Partido Popular’ on the 10th; and in person with ‘Adelante Sevilla’ on Thursday 12; and ‘Izquierda Unida’ on Monday 16.

The Federation has insisted on the implementation of the personal assistance service in Seville, and that be managed by a reference body in the capital such as a Reference Center for Disability, since it considers the existence of that one is ‘indispensable’.

Personal assistance promotes independent living, especially in education, work, sports and leisure, and it is essential that it be a personal service complementary to that of home help. However, at present, only the financial aid is contemplated to hire a person as a personal assistant, and it is not even enough to cover a large part of all severely dependent people who need it. For this group, the role of said professional is vital, since it is the one who is in charge of the inclusion of users in the community avoiding their social isolation; to encourage their participation in activities; to make it possible for them to choose where they live and how they want to live; to promote their personal autonomy, guarantee their decision-making and develop their personality.

For their part, all the parties have expressed their agreement with said proposal, as well as their support for the needs of the group.
